have an Envirothon Committee meeting tomorrow. The current environmental issues committee also meets along with the oral presentation committee. The team from Durham did not do as well as they should have done at the national competition in California. we saw some beautiful country out there in Yosimete and Sequoia National Park. The team came in 25 place out of 54 teams. There were two ties ahead of them but there were 25 teams ahead of them.

Still working on the Envirothon Program. It is getting larger every day. Quiet today, tomorrow, I have to go down and meet with my sisters. it will be a busy day. Next week I am going to Orlando for a national Envirothon meeting. We hosted the 2009 Canon Envirothon at the University of North Carolina in Asheville. Steve

Rainy day, cool but feels good outside. Planted some grass this morning before going to the office. Working on facebook page for the Envirothon and reading the tests for the Envirothon stations. Talked to Cindy this morning and sent a few emails out. Tried to call Diane, but got no answer. Need to get some resource materials for wildlife and start collecting it for the resources at the 2009 National Envirothon.

Getting late, busy today getting ready for my trip to UNC-Asheville to look at facilities to host the 2009 National Envirothon. Going to be a great competition if we don't have any problems raising the money to hold the competition. Need to be more focused on fundraising, hard to do with so much other work added to my plate to do. Getting cold here, may be first hard frost of the year tonight. Set up a site on facebook for the NC Envirothon. Have 26 people on it now. most of them are students, either High School or former Envirothon students in college now. Some are at UNC-Asheville. Steve

The Envirothon is a hands on environmental competition for high school students at the national level. Here in North Carolina we have started a middle school Envirothon. The topics studied are soils/land use, wildlife, aquatic ecology, forest resources, and current environmental issues. The students go on field trips to look at wetlands, study and learn how to id trees, go to museums to study mammals and birds, have resource people to work with them on soils, soil development. It is a great environmental science program Steve

Worked on the Pigeon River Foundation grant with Gail Heathman and Davis Ferguson yesterday most of the day. We are asking for $25,000.00 for funding of the 2009 Canon Envirothon which we are hosting in western NC in August, 2009. Steve
